The dean of the institute Dr, SaadAlkahtani met in his office the champ, Bodla congratulating him for his victory and wished him more successes in his future sportlife, Also he wished that this success will reflect positively on his educational field as well.
We exclusively interviewed the champ:
Ahmad you became the youngest person in the world to successfully attempt 2 of the toughest world records in martial arts, for how long have you been training in martial arts ?
Basically I began training in august 2008 when I was 15 years old, I always wanted to be a fighter, I used to practice all day what learnt in the evening, standing in front of a mirror and kicking with music played on computer. I learnt all the basic taekwondo moves in 3 weeks and kept practicing those all at my own, I worked so hard that I got to black belt in just 1 year.
Tell us something about this record you made: 6370 kicks in 1 hour, how did you do that when the record stood at 2982 only?
My 1st record attempt was on 17th sept,2011 when I struck 225 kicks in 1 min beating the record of 168,soon after making this record in Pakistan, I joined king Saud university, when I came to know about the record of Jayanth Reddy(india), who got 2982 kicks in 1 hour, I knew I could break it any day seeing that I had enough control in these kicks, I was lacking stamina so I waited for the 4 week winter break in the university, I took full advantage of those holidays training up to 6 hours a day for 4 weeks.
How did the training go? Were you confident about this when you went to Pakistan last month?
I was fully confident and my aim was to get double the no of kicks reddy did, this attempt has been made in more than 20 countries in 1 year and i was able to outperform all those players, I trained for 9000+ strikes but ended up with 6370 because I did not find a kickboxing bag in Lahore,I trained to kick that bag here in Riyadh but unfortunately I had to kick a small pad held by an assistant, so I could not get what I trained for.
Ahmad, you made both your world record attempts in Pakistan, do you plan to make any attempts here in Riyadh?
Well am fully prepare to reattempt “most kicks in 1 min” which is 281 now by RAUL MEZA from USA,I ll be making that attempt INSHALLAH by the end of next month here at the King Saud university in presence of martial art experts and witnesses, I aim to strike more than 400 kicks in 1 minute now.
What about your family and friends, do they support you morally?
Yes I have great support from my family, friends and teachers, they want me to keep working hard and bring laurels to the country.
What is your training routine these days? What you want to achieve in martial arts in the future?
Well ,I train up to 3 hours a day, five days a week, I have different methods of training, punching the boxing bag for 30 min., jogging on the treadmill, a number of exercises with dumbbells and of course I train my taekwondo kicks as well.
What is your rank in martial arts?
I hold a 1st Dan black belt in the Korean art of Taekwondo; I have learnt boxing and am well aware of combat techniques from kung fu,hapkido and karate.
Who is your instructor, who is the one behind this fame?
I was taught by Muhammad Altaf(3rd Dan black belt) in Kharian(PAKISTAN),He is a very dedicated soldier from the Pakistani army, we used to train up to 9 hours a day in summer of 2009 before my black belt test
At the end I would express many thanks and appreciation to the dean of the institute, faculty members and all the staff for their ongoing support which has affectedmy success
